I thought this was a fun way to celebrate the 4th, because I usually don't do much. It was my first day back to XC and I could feel it. 1 mile warm up (I got there late), 5K race, and about 3 for cool down if I remember correctly. It was pretty hot, but I had fun. I threw up for the first time in a race though, which was a little downside. Otherwise, the race went well. It felt good to race again.

Today we just ran to Shriners hospital. I went with the newbie group because my mileage isn't very high. It was fun for me because I was the only one who knew where to go, and everyone was looking to me for help. That was nice. The run was good, helped me get back in the groove, and I actually really like that route. Hopefully I can go with the advanced group pretty soon.

Today we did hills. I really need a lot of work on hills, so I'm glad we did this workout. 2 miles warm up, ran Bessie/finish lap 4 times, with 3 miles cool down on region course. I did have a little trouble with the hills by the end of the workout, but I felt accomplished by the end because I am often completely worn out by the end of a tough workout. Overall it was hard, but I needed a challenge after a long vacation.

Today we did the Pipeline trail. Not sure exactly, but pretty sure I went out about 3.5 miles. I really like this one because there is lots of shade, and not too many hills. I started out running with most of the group, but after about ten minutes people started to spread apart and I was on my own for the rest of the run. I liked it a lot because it was good weather, a fun course, and I had some time to myself. I missed trail running and I'm glad to be doing it again.

Met at Liberty Park, did 1 lap warm up, 1 lap fireman, 1 lap cool down and finished to 5 miles total. Good end-of-week workout, fireman was really fun. In a group with Bill, Jesse, Becca, Natalie, Abigail, and Amanda. It was a good finish to the week.

Hey, welcome to the blog! Bets of luck with your running goals! Is your team training during the summer? Did they run on the pipeline trail? Did you see any snakes????

We did pipeline, but I did not see any snakes (I would love to though!). And yes, we are training in summer.

Today was the Slurpee run. We met at Sunnyside Park, and ran to seven different 7-11s, where we had to drink a seven-ounce slurpee before going on to the next one. I usually can't get through one of the ten-ounce ones, so I was a little worried about having to drink seven of them even if they were smaller. The first one was actually pretty good though. It was refreshing and sweet and I liked it. But by the third stop I was feeling sick. Towards the sixth stop, I came pretty close to throwing up, but I gritted my teeth and kept going. At the end, I was tired and sick, but also a little annoyed because I think I could have run a little faster. But it was a fun experience nonetheless.

Today I was sick, I'm guessing the after-effects of the Slurpee run. Nothing too bad, just enough to keep me in bed most of the day. :P

Today was the JCC run. I'm not exactly sure what the trail is called. We did a rock run, taking a rock in each hand a little more than a mile up the trail. I usually like this run, because it has lots of trees/shade at the bottom and isn't too hot. I started off okay, but as I was running up the hills I realized that I wasn't quite recovered from yesterday. It got worse until I had to turn around a little ways before the three mile mark. I really like going down that trail because I like trying to dodge rocks and turns while running at full speed downhill. It's very exciting. Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow so I can start to push myself more.

Today we were at Sugarhouse Park and did the cemetery loop. I ran with Tania and Nelson, and we thought we were pretty much going the right way but we didn't know where to go so we just ran six miles, which is the distance that the run was supposed to be anyway. I had fun, Nelson and Tania are really cool.

Today we did the flagpole/drinking fountain run on Foothill. I like this one a lot because it's basically one straight, flat line the whole way and you don't get lost easily. I didn't do the longer run because I had to leave early, and I wasn't even able to get to the flagpole before I had to turn back. But I did enjoy it, I had a lot of the freshmen following me and it was fun to be the leader who knew where to go.

Today we ran at Cottonwood Complex, and did the interval running (forgot what it's called...). We did about 2 miles warm up, some strides, and ran the course for our workout. Then finished with a half mile cool down to even it out to 6 miles for the day. I tried to push myself during the workout, and felt pretty good about it at the end. I am not 100% back in shape (or as much as I'd like to be anyway) but I am getting faster. Hopefully it will happen before the season starts.

Today was Pipeline. I like pipeline, because it's nice and flat and shady. I think I went about six, and it was really good. I felt fast. Especially on the way back when Bill caught up to me but I ran ahead and stayed ahead for the rest of the run. It was a good run!

Today was at Liberty. I am pretty sure we just did one lap warm up, six strides, and a lap for cool down. Good recovery day.

Today we ran at Liberty Park. I thought it was going to be mostly an easy day, but it turned out pretty tough. We did a lap for warm up, then four strides. After those I was pretty tired, but felt okay. Then we did four 800 meter repeats. Those were pretty difficult for me, probably because I've been at camp all week and haven't been able to run. I really tried to push through it though, and even though they weren't very fast I do think that it was good for me. By the last one, however, I was so tired and everything hurt so I took the mile cool down VERY slowly. It was a tough day but I think it was good for me.

Today we were at Wheeler Farm for workout. We ran about two miles warm up around the farm, and then did intervals for the workout around a loop. I felt really good during the warm up, and during most of the workout, but towards the middle I got a really bad sideache. I tried to push through it though, and I think I did okay considering. For most of it I was pretty much on my own, but I ran with Maclean for the last set. That was nice for me since I don't usually run with anyone. After 3 sets of that, we did about two miles for cool down to finish at about 8 (I think...)

Today we did the Shoreline trail, by the Hogle zoo. I really didn't have very much fun on this run. It was a lot of hills, which are sort of my weakness I think. I felt pretty sore on the uphill and got out of breath faster than usual. On most of the downhill I was fine, but I felt pretty sick towards the end. It was a very pretty view though, which was nice. After we got back we did step ups, wall sits and core to finish up.

So, since the school year has started, I decided to start blogging again. I sort of slacked off/ forgot for a few weeks. Today for XC we did a grass lap around the track for warm-up, and then did a run up by foothill and then down by the cemetery. I felt great in the beginning, and was getting all excited when my foot began to hurt like crazy. I decided that I didn't want to stop because it was the one day that I actually wanted to run fast, so I didn't. I kept running until I couldn't bear the pain anymore, and then I had to walk the rest of the way. Every so often I ran 30 meters or so, but it really wasn't getting any better. I'll ice it tonight and hope for the best.
